Vostok Games, formerly GSC Game World, is working on Survarium the spiritual successor to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and the legal alternative to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 given the IP issues. Anyway, the latest dev diary for the game focuses on how they're going to prevent cheats, the system requirements and what the role is of one of the factions in the game.
Much like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., the game will take place in a dystopian near-future with survival elements playing a large role in the gameplay. Players will start off as stalkers who must scavenge for goods, trade items and hunt for artifacts.
The good part about is that you'll be able to play Survarium with a relatively low-end PC, 8800 GTX with 512mb of VRAM or higher, 2GB of RAM, and a dual-core or higher CPU. Yep, low-end.
Even though there's all that talk about cheat prevention, give it a week or two after the game releases and there will be hackers bombarding matches with all sorts of exploits. It's kind of inevitable.
Anyway, I like the atmosphere they're building for the game. Utilizing shadows and crevices to hide and ambush opponents is a cool feature and the whole day/night cycle is a nice touch. I'm just hoping the game can maintain the thrills and horror of previous S.T.A.L.K.E.R. titles. That would be truly awesome.
