Hoping to see Dead Rising 2 at E3? Well, you won't. Capcom is one of a few Japanese companies who are scaling back their plans for the gaming convention due to fear of the swine flu.
A Capcom spokesperson told Kotaku that the Japanese wing of the company will likely not make the trip to Los Angeles for this year's E3 and subsequently Dead Rising 2 will not be shown. "Our Capcom guys are not coming to E3 because of the Japanese government restrictions," said the spokesperson. "The company is taking the advisory very seriously."
Two other companies, Square Enix and Koei also have cold feet. "A limited number of executives/employees from Square Enix's headquarters in Japan will be attending E3 this year, given the recent worldwide spread of H1N1 flu," said the company in a recent statement. Koei, meanwhile, stated that "due to the current nature of and concern over the Influenza A (H1N1), KOEI has reconsidered international travel." Koei's Toronto studio will be there to unveil a new game, though.
E3's organizers, the Electronic Software Association, said earlier in the month that they expected the event to proceed as planned. It's out of their hands in some respects, though.
