Another TGS begins, and another spectacular start from Kojima-san. The latest Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer is out, and it’s all in Japanese. Which isn’t a problem if you speak the language, but Kojima tells a vibrant story through crazy visuals as much as messed up dialogue. The new TGS trailer is lengthy, just how we like our MGS footage, and introduces some new people and brings back some old.

The “Haven Troopers” are the first on the scene in the trailer. Leaping around in perfect synchronicity, these high-tech soldiers soon come across Meryl’s FOXHOUND team. This is our first chance to see Johnny, Jonathan and Ed is action. They certainly waste little time disposing of the jumpy troops using Son of the Patriot, the nano-machine control system. We’re then introduced to the weapons merchant, Drebin, who brings along his friend. Hey look, monkey! Snake and Otacon rescue Naomi from Liquid Revolver, who is sporting a mighty nice Metal Gear REX. Finally, we meet young Sunny, who was taken by the Patriots when she was little.

Then the trailer goes to shit, literally. The after credits sequence has Snake facing off against the silver haired Akiba. After getting the drop on our hero, Akiba is fooled into letting down his guard (maybe Snake was helping him with the safety button) and Snake takes him out. The trailer ends with scatological humor at the expense of Akiba, and it is a huge letdown after the amazing trailer.

This is looking like the last Solid Snake fueled Metal Gear, for real this time, and we couldn’t be happier with all the crazy things Kojima has in store for us. Watch the TGS trailer below and enjoy.
