The next-gen reboot of Prince of Persia is due in early December, placing it at the tail end of the holiday season release orgy. As such, we lose track of this game game from time to time, but Ubisoft's released two new spectacular-looking trailers to make sure no one forgets about the game.
The first of the two videos released at Tokyo Game Show is slowed down to give an in-depth look at the colorful visuals and the teamwork between the Prince and his constant companion, Elka. She's basically the Tails to Prince's Sonic. She and the Prince can pull off combo attacks on enemies and she'll also help him overcome obstacles in the platforming segments of the game. When the Prince is about to fall to his death, she'll grab him and pull him to safety.
The second video is a gameplay montage showing off the game's platforming and combat at full speed. You can definitely see remnants of Assassin's Creed's Scimitar engine here. There's dramatic slow-downs in the combat when the Prince and his foe parry each other's blows. Furthermore, the Prince is every bit the acrobat Altair was. Elka helps Prince complete a jump at one point by grabbing his hand mid-air and swinging him forward; I'm not sure whether that was from some effort of the player or that's the automatic Elka ass-saving mechanism at work. If the latter, it's pretty cool that her saves aren't some drawn-out scene like the resurrection in Too Human.
Prince of Persia will arrive in stores on December 2nd for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.
