MLB 2K9 shipped today and the game disc came with one intriguing extra: a trailer for the previously unannounced sequel to 2007's The Bigs.

The Bigs 2, like its predecessor, is an arcade-style baseball game. Rather than striving for realism, it goes for flashy visuals. The trailer shows a homerun ball with a smoke trail and outfielders making superhuman leaps. IGN, who first reported on the trailer, notes that Hall of Famers Ozzie Smith, Wade Boggs, Roberto Clemente, and Reggie Jackson are all featured in the trailer.

The release date is listed simply as "Summer 2009." No platforms were revealed, but the first Bigs appeared on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, and PSP so expect it to hit a fair amount of platforms this time around too.
