The Sims 3 Is PETA's Most Animal-Friendly Game Of 2009

This week People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) handed out their Proggy Awards for "animal friendly achievements in commerce and culture." The winner in the Most Animal-Friendly Game category was EA's The Sims 3.

Sims 3 got the nod by allowing players to create vegetarian characters. PETA also notes there's a rumor that vegetarian Sims live longer than their carnivorous friends. Maybe it's because if you're micromanaging your character's diet that much, you're probably the sort who takes good care of them in other respects, too.

Not many games really go out of their way to be "animal-friendly" so I guess Sims 3 is as good of a winner as any. There's no blatant contradictions here, as there was with picking Fable II last year despite the game's chicken-kicking Achievement.
