Thief 4 In Development?

You know what I haven't done in a while? Extinguish a candle with a bow and arrow. Lucky for me, a fourth Thief game is on its way.

Appropriately enough for a game that revolves around stealth, the signs of a Thief series resurrection have been...subtle. Eidos Montreal has stated on its website that the studio's first two projects will be revivals of existing franchises. The first game they announced was Deus Ex 3. This past week they made a recruitment on their website for their second title, which they hinted "started with a 'T.'"

Okay, okay. Pretty flimsy by itself. There's also this other weird bit of evidence: Eidos Montreal GM Stephane D'Astous used the "T" from the Thief logo for his Facebook profile picture recently (it's since been changed). While it's pretty impressive someone spotted that "T" picture while browsing Facebook and instantly recognized the Thief font, it's still not very compelling evidence.

It's not a stretch of the imagination to assume Eidos would make a Thief game, though. Eidos Interactive has owned the rights to the series since Looking Glass Studios went under and they published Thief: Deadly Shadows, the third installment in the series, in 2004. Plus, what other franchises badly in need of a revival can you think of that start with the letter "T"?
