EA Maxis is busy prepping Galactic Adventures, a Space phase expansion to Spore, but that's not the only thing they have up their sleeves. Last night they announced they have three new standalone Spore games on the way this year.
All three games expand the Spore franchise to demographics that may not have taken to the original simulation game. First, there's Spore Creature Keeper, a PC game geared toward kids. It's essentially a pet simulator; you teach and play with your creature with a variety of gizmos and gadgets. Creature Keeper also has multiplayer support so you can arrange a play-date for your little creature. The two other games, Spore Hero for Wii and Spore Hero Arena for DS, are adventure games geared toward a casual audience. Hero, according to the press release, "takes players on an exciting adventure through a beautiful, colorful world". In Arena, players design their own creatures and pitting them against other creatures in battle. Hero and Arena are slated for a Fall 2009 release while Creature Keeper is expected in the summer. Galactic Adventures, meanwhile, should be available this March. |
