The demo for Uncharted: Drake's Fortune will be hitting the Playstation store on November 8th of this week. The new adventure game is set to be released on November 19th, of this year, one day ahead of its original release. While the only game that would truly make a difference on impacting Sony's PS3 sales massively this holiday season, Metal Gear Solid 4, remains for a delayed release in the second quarter of 2008.
Sony, call it quits and keep focusing on the PS2. The PS2 is a good system and still has some great games on it, and people still want to buy it. More people are still buying and playing the PS2 than the PS3. Uncharted is supposed to be an athletic based action-adventure game like Tomb Raider. Judging from screenshots it looks like it's also going for an Indiana Jones aesthetic. It appears there will be quite a bit of shooting and gun combat for action savvy gamers as well. That said, no disrespect to Naughty Dog, the old school Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter series’ were awesome. Those were great adventure games. Why would you want to emulate a series of games such as Tomb Raider? The Tomb Raider games sucked and were always crappy, and the only reason anyone played them was for the TnA of Lara Croft and the false rumors of a nude code that sent middle school boys digging under their couch cushions for spare change. This game doesn't have a Lara Croft. I'd possibly check this game out by the reputation of Naughty Dog alone. But it's on the PS3. And the PS3 is a brick. I don't pay $400 for bricks. |
