After finishing up work on Uncharted: Golden Abyss for the PlayStation Vita, the folks over at Sony’s Bend Studios got straight to work on their next Uncharted game. Well, sort of. Rather than running, jumping and shooting pirates in the face, Nathan Drake and company will be duking it out card battle style in the upcoming digital CCG, Uncharted: Fight for Fortune.
Bend Studio’s Technical Director, Chris Reese, visited the PlayStation Blog this morning to make the announcement official. In Uncharted: Fight for Fortune, players will build a deck of cards based on the series’ heroes, villains or mercenaries. The initial cards will be themed after Golden Abyss with future DLC packs hailing from previous Uncharted games.
Here’s a quick look at how the game works.
Along with Trophy support, a big single player campaign and asynchronous multiplayer, Fight for Fortune will also sync with a player’s Golden Abyss save file. Treasures and discoveries made within Golden Abyss will translate into new cards and card upgrades for Fight for Fortune, though a player does not need to have played one to enjoy the other.
This certainly isn’t the “multiplayer experience” Golden Abyss fans were hoping for, but just because it’s something different doesn’t mean it should be dismissed outright. It might not be the action-packed adventure we were all hoping for, but Fight for Fortune looks to offer a unique experience that might prove to be a fun portable distraction.
Look for Uncharted: Fight for Fortune to hit PSN on Dec. 4 for $4.99.
