Way the hell back in February, Activision announced that PSOne/N64 vehicular combat game Vigilante 8 would be coming to Xbox Live Arcade. Well, they missed the planned Spring 2008 release by a mile but it'll finally arrive on XBLA on November 5th.
Vigilante 8: Arcade will cost 800 Microsoft Points to download. It will feature four-player split-screen multiplayer as well as eight-player online matches. In addition to a bunch of other smaller enhancements to the original game, Arcade will also feature a new "Free Wheelin'" game mode where players can drive freely around the game's five arenas without any meddlesome enemies attacking them in order to find alien artifacts. Presumably finding artifacts will be tied to one of the Achievements that comes with the game.
Arcade was developed by Isopod Labs, which employs many former members of Luxoflux, the studio that created the original game. They're planning on releasing two additional battle arenas as DLC in the future but no details have been revealed about that yet.
