The wait is nearly over as Dawn of War II -- the very popular and very upcoming RTS game for PC -- has officially gone gold, marking a milestone in the development process for Relic Entertainment. This pretty much solidifies the game's release date for February 19th. For those of you who have no idea what "going gold" means, I'll simply say that it refers to the developers having finished all the code and all developmental work is finished on the game.
“Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II will build on the critical acclaim and commercial success of the Dawn of War franchise, letting players experience RTS gaming like never before," said Kevin Kraff, vice president of global brand management for THQ. “Combining non-linear gameplay, cooperative multiplayer, cinematic visuals, and destructible battlefields brings a new, innovative dynamic to the genre." Running on the Essence Engine 2.0, the game will sport a new single-player branching campaign and storyline, new forms of unit customization, and the same fast-paced strategic combat that made this one of the most celebrated realtime-strategy franchises in recent history. You can learn more about Dawn of War II (even though I'm pretty sure most people reading this already know all there is to know about this game) by visiting the Official Dawn of War II Website.
