THQ announced today that Chaos Rising, a new expansion to Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II, is currently in development. Chaos Rising continues the single-player campaign from DoWII and adds a new army to multiplayer.

Players assume command of the Blood Ravens once again and must this time face off against the Chaos Space Marines. The level cap for your squad members has been raised from 20 to 30 and there's new gear and abilities to obtain. You can also use Chaos-tainted gear but this has its risks.

Chaos Rising allows you to play as the Chaos Space Marines in multiplayer. Existing factions from DoW2 (Orks, Eldar, Tyranids and Space Marines) will all receive new units. The expansion adds new maps to test your tactical skills as well.

Its release date is currently pegged at "Spring 2010." PC Gamer's latest issue, set to hit newsstands on October 12th, will offer up the exclusive first look.
