Weekly Recap: GTA 5 Pulled From Stores And 5 Other Award-Worthy Stories

This past week was pretty insane. We saw a group of consumers get together to have Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto V pulled from Target and Kmart, two Wesfarmers subsidiaries in Australia. This move led to the game also being removed – along with other R18+ movies and games – from the NZ Warehouse Group, according to Kotaku. And the outcry and precedent-setting for the event has a lot of core gamers up in arms about what kind of slippery slope this represents for interest groups who don't like certain kinds of content in certain kinds of games.

Additionally, Geoff Keighley's Game Awards 2014 took place on Friday night, and it was actually, dare I say, very impressive. Tighter production values and some cleaning up here and there on the technical side and it could be a monumental annual event for the gaming industry. These stories and more in this Decembr 6th, 2014 edition of the Weekly Recap.
