Weekly Recap: Xbox One Loses Its Biggest Exclusives And 5 Other Huge Stories

Microsoft went on a rampage this week, handing out their exclusives like schools handing out sex-ed pamphlets, stripping the Xbox One down from many of its exclusives as if it were on stage dancing to an exotic tune in front of a bunch of its competitors. The system will already be sold without Kinect, but now Kinect will be available to use on PC starting this July. This follows on Dead Rising 3 also making the jump to the PC platform.

In less salt-inducing news, Take-Two Interactive hinted at a possible sequel for Red Dead Redemption, easily one of the most endearing games of seventh-gen. Nintendo got back into the game and kicked off a massive comeback with the launch of Mario Kart 8 and Sony reveals some more of their plans for E3 2014. Red Dead Redemption 2 Is Possible

Take-Two finally commits to making a comment about the future of the Red Dead franchise. It's good news, too, because the future of the franchise isn't dead... not by a long shot. Two more worthwhile indie games have joined the PlayStation 4's lineup this year, where-as the Xbox One received some less-than-stellar news about DirectX 12. Regardless of what side of the fanboy war you stand on, GFWL has been officially removed from Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, which is great news. An interesting game called The Stomping Land has landed on Steam while news about a potential Mac version of The Sims 4 has surfaced. And, Microsoft has revealed some pretty awesome plans for E3 this year regarding the Xbox One.

Mortal Kombat X Announced

Netherrealm Studios has teased the next release within the venerable and long running Mortal Kombat series called Mortal Kombat X. Mario Kart 8 helped blast up sales of the Wii U by Satan's area code, and likewise managed to move 1.2 million units over the weekend. All the big success still has some people awfully leery about the Wii U's long-term profitability and adoption rates. New info points to a Last of Us 2, while Little Orbit preps for a release of Falling Skies on home consoles this fall. Microsoft revealed Forza Horizon 2 for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and we have some hands-on impressions of EA Sports UFC from the Xbox One.

79% Of Gamers Don't Want An Xbone

Uh oh, Microsoft is in serious trouble. The company could be reeling after new survey data has been revealed indicating that the $399 Xbone isn't on as many gamer's wishlists as they might have wanted. Corsair and SanDisk unveiled two new SSD devices for home consoles, free realm transfers have been announced and made available to the denizens of Wild Star, Arc System announced some snazzy new features for the upcoming PlayStation exclusive Guilty Gear Xrd: SIGN... something both PS3 and PS4 gamers will enjoy. Terraria is scheduled to launch for the PS4 and Xbox One this fall, and Crytek USA have announced a brand new co-op shooter called Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age.

Xbox One Apps No Longer Require Xbox Live Gold

Finally, a serious breath of fresh air. The Xbox One and Xbox 360 have given up the subscription requirements for apps. Drakengard 3 gets some brand new DLC, Dark Souls 2 is also getting some brand new DLC, and Zen Pinball is getting some brand new DLC. Lots and lots and lots of DLC released. Uncharted 3's single-player campaign is available to download for free on the PS3. The Wii U continues to stomp a mudhole in the PS4 and we give our final verdict on Murdered: Soul Suspect.

Kinect And Dead Rising 3 Head To PC

You'll no longer have to worry about purchasing an Xbox One to get your hands on some of the best exclusives that the Xbox One had to offer. That's right, both Kinect 2.0 and Dead Rising 3 are coming to PC. RSI has released a playable dogfighting arena commander module for Star Citizen. Gaming Blend managed to land an exclusive trailer for Black Gold Online, featuring heavy mechs and steampunk technology. The official release date has been set for The Witcher 3 and new Halo-themed headsets are coming courtesy of Astro.

5 Games That Might Skip E3

Because not every game is going to make the E3 showcase. Both Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy XV won't be on display at this year's E3.
