A lot of gamers would love to get their hands on a new Killer Instinct; 200 hit combos, finishers and a whole lot of fist-pummeling action is long overdue. And with all the recent hoopla over Microsoft’s move to reorganize the efforts of Rare, some people are desperately hoping that KI3 is the development team's next big project.
James Barr from TheGameReviews writes an extensive piece about the possibilities of Killer Instinct 3, the classic fighting game everyone is hoping to see on retailer shelves again. Mr. Barr takes the time out to explain what the game may be like and why would be good to leave it the same.
In the article, James disagrees with Rare’s postulation of overhauling Killer Instinct in order for the game to be appealing to the fighting game audience. Actually, it would be nice if a four-player tag-team mode was tossed in. How cool would it be to challenge people on Xbox Live, tag-teaming with a friend? It’s been done in DoA 3, Tekken and M.U.G.E.N, so why not Killer Instinct?
The game would be even better with features such as unlockable moves that can be customized to a character, or earning character accessories to alter or change a character’s idiosyncrasy, like in Tekken 6. Multilayered, interactive environments wouldn’t be a bad addition to the game, either. In fact, it was probably one of the few good features of Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe.
If the game is actually in the works, I’m sure Rare already knows what will make it a good game. So long as Microsoft doesn’t rush them or force a buggy version of the game onto the market *cough*Perfect Dark Zero*cough*, then Killer Instinct 3 could easily be a top notch game killer for the Xbox 360.
