Wii Game Coming This Christmas...Featuring Mario Versus Sonic!

Slap my monkey! Who’d a thunk it?! This has to be the day that gamers thought would never arrive. I’d believe a paparazzi shot of George Bush licking his own toilet seat would emerge faster than a game containing both Mario and Sonic, together....That is, of course, in a game that wasn’t tossed together using M.U.G.E.N.
Still, this is gaming history. A plethora of praise and a chorus of cheers from a throng of gamers, is definitely in order. Or...a simple news article of this sort should do. Anyway, Sega and Nintendo jointly announced that both Mario and Sonic, the absolute two biggest icons in all of video games, are joining together to appear on the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS. Amazing! The name of the game is Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. Lame, yes I know. However I’m predicting that this hot-mama is gonna sell faster than any other Wii or Nintendo DS game out there, come this holiday season. “We are thrilled to partner with Nintendo and ISM on this groundbreaking title,” said Hisao Oguchi, President and Chief Operating Officer, SEGA Corporation. “For the first time, two of the world’s greatest games’ characters come together to compete in the world’s greatest sporting event and we couldn’t be more excited.” “Mario and Sonic have been respectful rivals since the early days of video games,” says Shigeru Miyamoto, Senior Managing Director and General Manager, Entertainment Analysis and Development Division, Nintendo. “In fact, for a long time they have been discussing the possibility of one day competing against each other. Now that they have been given the perfect opportunity to meet at the Olympic Games, we may finally learn who is actually faster, Mario or Sonic?” Eh, I’m guessing Sonic. Mario never made the screen blur. Added to that, Mario has a gut and Sonic seems to be in slightly better shape. Yet amazingly, it didn’t stop the big ‘M’ from kicking Bowser's butt. Still, I’m guessing if both of them had to toss on some togas and get down and dirty Greco-Roman style, Mario would shred Sonic’s buttocks across the arena...leaving speckles of blur fur(?) everywhere. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games: • In Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, players will compete in events that take place in environments based on the official venues of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. • Using a supporting cast of characters from the amazing worlds of both Mario and Sonic, gamers will be able to compete as or against a range of lovable personalities including Mario, Sonic, Luigi, Knuckles, Yoshi, Tails and more. • Innovative usage of the Wii and DS control systems to maneuver a favourite character will allow players to race the likes of Mario and Sonic down the 100m track, engage in exhilarating rallies in table tennis and churn water in a swimming heat, all while competing for the much sought after gold medal. • Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is scheduled to ship for the Wii and Nintendo DS this Christmas.
