Wii, Wii Fit Dominate February 2009 Sales In US

The NPD Group has revealed the hardware and software sales figures for February 2009 and the Wii and Wii Fit crushed in both categories. The king stay the king, as they say.

Street Fighter IV had and would beat Wii Fit if you chose to combine the sales of the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. Pretty impressive that Killzone 2 managed to sneak into the top five despite being released on February 27th.

The combined hardware sales of the PS3 and Xbox 360 are almost 90K short of the Wii sales. I don't suspect this will slow the steady stream of "Who's winning: PS3 or Xbox 360????" articles churned out by the Internet, though.

Software:
  • Wii Fit (Nintendo, Wii) - 644,000 units
  • Street Fighter IV (Capcom, 360) - 446,000 units
  • Street Fighter IV (Capcom, PS3) - 403,000 units
  • Wii Play (Nintendo, Wii) - 386,000 units
  • Killzone 2 (Guerilla Games, PS3) - 323,000 units
  • Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo, Wii) - 263,000 units
  • Call of Duty: World at War (Treyarch, Xbox 360) - 193,000 units
  • Mario Kart DS (Nintendo, NDS) - 145,000 units
  • New Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo, NDS) - 144,000 units
  • Guitar Hero: World Tour (Neversoft, Wii) - 136,000 units
Hardware:
  • Wii - 753,000
  • Nintendo DS - 588,000
  • Xbox 360 - 391,000
  • PlayStation 3 - 276,000
  • PSP - 199,000
  • PlayStation 2 - 131,000
