Will Nintendo's Mario Own Apple's iPhone? The rumors have yet to go away: will Nintendo be offering games on the iPhone? Consider that it has already been announced that the iPhone won't be supporting Java and Flash, two huge applications for both small internet games and the downloadable cell phone variety, and you begin to wonder, "If I'm paying $600 for this, shouldn't I be able to do more than watch a bulldog on a skateboard while I jam out my balls to Fallout Boy?"

Thus the rumors of Nintendo selling games through iTunes persist. On the other hand, Apple already has an existing relationship with Electronic Arts. Back when that outdated, white square called the iPod was cool, EA developed games exclusively for Apple's MP3 player, so it would make sense for that partnership to continue on the iPhone. According to an interview with Businessweek, Mitch Lasky, senior VP of EA Mobile, EA has already been pitching ideas to Apple in the hopes that they can at least get their foot on a boat that's being hyped as the Noah's Arc of personal entertainment.

"We have been talking to Apple about games on (the iPhone)," Lasky told Businessweek. "We see a lot of the technology that we've utilized on the iPod side being incorporated into the iPhone."

Really though, whoever develops the first generation of iPhone games isn't even relevant. All that matters is whether or not the games themselves will be as much of an evolutionary step for mobile gaming as the iPhone is supposed to be for mobile everything-else.
