Signature Devices and Graffiti Entertainment announced today that they have secured distribution rights to the anime-based game for the Nintendo DS, Windy X Windam. The game is being developed by Ninja Studio and will release in North America.

According to the press release…

Windy X Windam is a 2D-style fighting game based on a Japanese anime series. The kingdom of Gawain is located at the center of the world. The people there use devices called “Windies” which grant the user various powers, including the power to fly. The power of “Windies” is an expression of political and military strength, and its power is absolute.

The actual story revolves around a mysterious tournament held in the city of Flarius and this is where players come into the picture. The game features a rather unique and dynamic 2D fighting system with special moves, power-ups and everything else in between.
