The first world events leading up to World of Warcraft: Cataclysm are now live. Alliance players can take part in the "Operation: Gnomeregan" and the Horde will experience "Zalazane's Fall."

"Operation: Gnomeregan" and "Zalazane's Fall" depict the retaking of the gnome and troll capital cities, respectively. Since launch, new gnome and troll players were forced to start out in other races' starting areas. They'll get their own lowbie zones once Cataclysm arrives, though.

The new limited-time quests are available on both American and European servers today. Talk to High Tinker Mekkatorque to start the Gnomeregan quests and Vanira to kick off the Echo Isles quests.
