A mere week after Battlefield 1943's release, Xbox 360 owners have racked up the 43 million kills needed to unlock the game's fourth map, "Coral Sea."
Though the multiplayer FPS was released through Xbox Live and PSN on July 8th and 9th, respectively, the official tally didn't begin until July 10th for either service. The idea was to promote some friendly competition between PS3 and Xbox 360 owners, as if they need any extra prodding. According to the ticker on the Battlefield 1943 website, PS3 owners have racked up over 36 million kills. The count isn't updated in real-time so they've probably got more than that by now.
While the base three maps of BF 1943 are mostly ground battles, "Coral Sea" is focused on dog-fighting. It should prove quite appealing to those of you who just fly around like jackasses on the other map and don't capture any points (grumble, grumble).
