Microsoft is throwing racing fans a bone. They're planning to release a Wireless Speed Wheel controller worldwide this fall.

The Speed Wheel is a U-shaped controller with the D-Pad and face buttons at opposite ends. It also has triggers for gas and brakes and rumble feedback to give it that proper driving feel. Green bands of light on each handle provide the player with visual cues.

The wheel will be available worldwide starting September 26th. In the US, it'll cost $59.99. The controller is said to be compatible with all racing games right out of the boxes. Some games will only make limited use of the wheel's features, though.

The obvious pairing for the controller will be Xbox 360 exclusive Forza Motorsport 4. FM4 is set to debut on October 11th. Bit surprising Microsoft didn't announce a bundle of the controller and the game, but I suppose there's still time.
