Xbox LIVE users should be expecting to hear from Marc Whitten, GM of LIVE, about the problems the service has been having recently. The letter paints the issue in a positive light, pointing out that LIVE saw huge growth during the holidays. The largest influx of members and record breaking single day concurrent users helped to keep the LIVE tech team hopping.
OK, so we know there were issues with service. And even though the price we pay is tiny, there’s still a matter of a paid service being unavailable for a lengthy period. So, Microsoft is offering compensation in the form of an Xbox LIVE Arcade title. It’s given as a “thank you” to members, but we all know it’s just as much a “we’re sorry.”
All Xbox LIVE Gold members around the world will receive a free XBLA title, which will be revealed in the coming weeks. Considering my horrible luck it’ll be Pac-Man C.E. since I finally picked up my own full copy just this week. As soon as we hear anything more about which game it is, we’ll be sure to let you know.
