For three days, Xbox Live is a subscription-less utopia. Microsoft will let Xbox Live Silver members freely use all of the Xbox Live Gold membership benefits.
The free weekend is intended to promote the new features added to Xbox Live on Tuesday, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Last.FM. You'll be able to access the older Gold services, like online gaming and Netflix, as well. Ordinarily you'd have to pay about $50/year to make use of these services.
The free weekend began earlier today everywhere except Europe and runs until 12 PM EST on November 23rd. European gamers, meanwhile, will have a free access period from November 25th to 30th.
