New Xbox One, PS4 KontrolFreek Add-Ons Now Available

Gamers out there upgrading from an Xbox 360 to a PS4 or a PS3 to a PS4 (or in the rare case of a few select, moving over laterally to an Xbox One) probably miss one of the most important things about gaming on seventh-gen consoles: KontrolFreek precision add-ons. There's nothing more devastating than realizing that the good money you paid for those controller add-ons no longer work for the Xbox One or the PS4 due to Microsoft and Sony changing the controller analog designs.

Thankfully, KontrolFreek have heard your cries and they have unleashed a batch of brand new add-ons for both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. These add-ons come in the form of the brand new FPS Freek Vortex, Phantom and the Sniper.

The company also rolled out a brand new bundle pack containing the new add-ons, allowing users to get the most out of their $60 controllers...

“Perfect Arsenal Phantom is the premier bundle for fans of Call of Duty: Ghosts and other competitive first-person shooters. Each Perfect Arsenal Phantom includes one set of FPS Freek Phantom, one set of FPS Freek SNIPR and one set of FPS Freek CQC—so you can play your best in any situation.”

Now the bundle pack contains some prime-time shooting-game precision extenders that look good and have garnered some considerably favorable user review scores.

Some of you might be wondering what the heck these things do. Well, this paragraph probably would have been better situated near the top of the article, but it's too late for that. No remorse, no regret.

Anyway, Kontrol Freek analog extenders do exactly what it sounds like they do: extend the precision length of the analog sticks on the Xbox or PlayStation controller. This means you get up to 40% additional precision aiming and control over the analog. From literal first-hand experience, I can actually say that they do indeed work and work well. I actually no longer play with controllers that don't use them. However, for one controller that use for racing games, I removed the left analog add-on because you usually need quick response timing in those games, and the added extender can make it slightly more difficult in some games to react accordingly. But the right analog stick – used for aiming and camera control – always has the add-on attached because it really is indispensable.

Thankfully, for those of you who seriously enjoy playing competitive shooters on the Xbox One or PS4, the new add-ons will give you a bit more variety in how you play and how your controllers look while playing.

While I'm not entirely keen on the FPS Freek Vortex look, color and design, I'm sure there are some people out there who completely dig it. I'm more-so into the Phantom and Sniper, both of which look pretty slick and matches the standard liveries of the PS4 and Xbox One controllers, especially if you decide to get some of those uber-sexy mods from Controller Chaos or DecalGirl.

Anyway, the pack of extenders for the Xbox One and PS4 are available right now, along with the new single FPS Freek Vortex add-on. You can grab them right now from the official KontrolFreek website, or check out what makes the add-ons worth anything at all in the video below.
