We Americans sometimes forget that there’s a whole world out there, and in that world people have not been able to download movies on their 360. This tragic mistake is being fixed next week when Microsoft launches the Video Marketplace in Canada and Europe. On December 11th, our friends around the globe will be able to joyfully frag us on Bog in Call of Duty 4 and then go off to enjoy 300 with family.
The service will appear for gamers in the UK, Ireland, France and Germany. Many of the films found currently on the US Video Marketplace will be made available, with a few region specific items coming down the pipe. Details of that content have yet to be announced. Initial content will be from Warner Bros., but more films will be made available by the end of December.
Microsoft is keeping the pricing close to what US gamers have enjoyed, with 380 MS Points for movie rentals and TV shows running at 250 MS Points. HD movie downloads hit at a hefty 660 MS Points, but even in America we pay a high price for 720p movies.
