Even though they’re best known for their Smackdown vs Raw series, Yuke’s has decided to branch out and do something a little different. With the availability of Nintendo’s WiiWare, Yuke’s has teamed with High Voltage Software to bring gamers Evasive Space, a Wii-mote driven space shooter.

“We’re seeing some great digital distribution methods that allow us the opportunity to deliver fun games to consumers at an affordable price,” said Nate Fitt, Marketing Manager of YUKE’S Company of America. “Evasive Space is our debut on the wonderful WiiWare platform for the world’s most popular game console, the Nintendo Wii™ system. The game will stay true to the nature of the platform by offering an engaging and addictive space adventure that both casual players and hardcore gamers will appreciate.”

The game will see players piloting Konki, Stellar Guardian, through more than 20 different missions involving mazes, obstacles, and enemies, through more than five different environments. Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like the game should have been called Stellar Guardian instead of Evasive Space. But hey, that’s just me.
