Atlus and ACE Team have announced that they will be bringing the creatively abstract adventure-fighting game sequel to home consoles and PC next year. That's right, Zeno Clash 2 has officially been announced and will retain much of the same flavor that made the first game a niche hit.
Andres Bordeu, co-founder of ACE Team commented in the press release, saying...
"The world of Zenozoik is one of wild dreams and wilder nightmares,"... "This is part of the reason we are working on Zeno Clash II, to give players the opportunity to explore Zenozoik with a friend via online cooperative multiplayer, turning those moments of wonder and awe into a shared adventure. We will make certain that going back and forth between solo and cooperative play preserves the consistency and impact of the narrative experience, while still allowing friends easily drop in and out of the game's fulfilling exploration and visceral melee combat."
The original Zeno Clash made waves for being an original take on the first-person genre, by replacing traditional weapons with melee combat instead. A satisfying mix of original artistic expression, a dangerous fantasy land and fist-to-face action.
Gamers were tasked with venturing through the odd but engaging world of Zenozoik as Ghat and Daedra, facing off against vicious enemies and trying to save the land from imminent danger. The sequel puts players back into the shoes, or sandals, of Ghat as he explores the more evolved and atmospheric world of Zenozoik.
The open-world gameplay enables players to explore, quest and fight much like in the first game, only this time around there are improved visuals, more fluid animations, enhanced character and art designs, more fantastic creatures, as well as more areas to explore and a bigger world to take in.
No plot or story elements were given away in the press release but it's safe to assume that there's an adventure story sitting right in the heart of it all.
Zeno Clash 2 is scheduled for release in 2013 for the Xbox 360's Live Arcade, PS3's PlayStation Network and on Steam for PC. You can gather up more info on the game by paying a visit to the Official Website. You can also check out the very first screenshots over at DSO Gaming.
