Arena Kings Is A Shoot Many Robots Multiplayer PvP SpinoffAuthor: Ryan Winslett

In Demiurge Studios’ Shoot Many Robots, players spent their time, well, shooting many robots. In the upcoming standalone title Shoot Many Robots: Arena Kings, however, players will have the opportunity to shoot each other instead.
Demiurge is using the engine from its recent shooting adventure game and slapping it over the top of an arena-style combat title, allowing players to run, jump, shoot and outthink their opponents in order to become king of the hill. Rather than working as a team to take out the riotous robot threat, players will now compete in a battle to the death against their online buds. The mode currently available in closed beta testing is “Royal Flush,” which has players competing to kill the opposing side’s crowned leader. Doing so flushes the fallen royalty down a “teleporting golden toilet.” I can’t make this stuff up, folks. That’s actually what happens in the game. According to Arena Kings lead designer Will Jennings, the team has taken their favorite parts of Shoot Many Robots and bolted it onto a PvP brawler that will be constantly evolving. “It’s like a big tasty vegetarian stew with lots of guns in it, but also alive and mutating and fighting other soups,” Jennings said, possibly struggling to keep a straight face. “While I’ve got notebooks full of weapons, special moves and pants I can’t wait to add, what’s really exciting is getting to hear from players in the earliest stages of the game’s development and giving them what they’re asking for, sometimes in the very next weekly update.” As beta testing continues, Demiurge is constantly adding new modes, updates, gear, etc. Arena Kings is set to release free-to-play on PC via Steam, and new beta invites are being sent out on a weekly basis.
