Assassin's Creed III is headed to consoles on Oct. 30 and, with only a few weeks to wait before having the opportunity to take control of the series' latest well-trained killer, Ubisoft has released a story trailer to reveal some of protagonist Connor's reasons for taking up arms and stabbing pretty much everything in the United States.
The Connor's Story Trailer is an appropriately named piece of media, giving an insight into Connor's motivations, how he became an Assassin, and what lengths he will go to in order to achieve the freedom he will so violently fight to achieve. Honestly, this is the first Assassin's Creed game to grab my attention since the original released a few years ago. A few hours into the original, I became bogged down by the obnoxiously repetitive nature of its gameplay. In short, I felt like maybe someone in the games press should have warned me about how bland the game was instead of just passing out perfect reviews for “OMG next gen graphics!” As a result, I have avoided the series until this point. Unfair? Perhaps. I understand the series has come a long way over the years and offers some truly riveting gameplay these days, but I just can't get over that dreadful sense of “fool me once, fool me twice.” Until now, that is. Assassin's Creed III looks like the developers decided to breathe new life into the series, making me wonder if perhaps my grudge against the Assassins has lasted long enough. This latest trailer certainly makes a compelling argument, wouldn't you say? Back to top
