Assassin's Creed 3 Trailer Relives The Boston Tea Party

The latest video for Assassin's Creed 3 is a bit more educational than the average video game trailer. It chronicles the Boston Tea Party and hints at Connor's role in the proceedings.

In 1773, the American colonies were upset about the taxes Britain laid upon them. One of these taxes was on imported British tea. A select group of Boston residents decided to show their displeasure by dumping thousands of dollars' worth of imported tea into Boston Harbor. This became an iconic event in the eventual Revolution.

AC3 promises to tell the "real" story of the American Revolution. It shows the secret war being waged behind the scenes between the Assassins and Templars. Connor, the Assassin at the heart of the game, is seen hoisting a box of British tea toward the end of the trailer.

The combination of American history with Assassin's Creed's signature open-world action is particularly exciting for a nerd like me. Maybe people with less interest in history will become interested in the subject matter when presented in such a action-packed way, too. We'll see next month.
