Battlefield 3 Adds Five AssignmentsAuthor: Pete Haas

Today DICE enabled five more assignments for their multiplayer shooter Battlefield 3. There's a catch, though: you'll need to be a Premium member in order to get access to them.
Assignments, first introduced in the Back to Karkand expansion, are long-term goals for players to pursue. For example, you might be asked to revive 10 players and kill 50 players with a shotgun. Upon completing an Assignment, players will generally unlock a new item. The typical reward is a weapon but today's Assignments merely give you weapon camouflage: L852 Specialist OBJECTIVES

MTAR Specialist OBJECTIVES

Weapon camos don't affect gameplay at all so they fail to excite me. Still, these Assignments give Premium members new challenges to pursue. Perhaps they'll succeed in entertaining gamers who have been playing BF3 for the past year. Battlefield 3 Premium is an optional, $49.99 service for BF3 players. Exclusive content like these Assignments are just a small portion of that service. Premium members get access to the three expansion packs already released for the game (Back to Karkand, Armored Kill, Close Quarters). They'll also get the Aftermath and End Game expansions two weeks early. Other features include server queue priority and exclusive Double XP weekends. DICE released the Armored Kill expansion for BF3 in September. The next DLC, Aftermath, is expected in December. The first trailer for Aftermath was released over the weekend. Back to top
