The board game that became a film is becoming a video game. Today Activision released a teaser trailer for the Battleship video game they announced yesterday for multiple platforms.

In the game, players must defend Hawaii from an alien invasion. They take on the role of Cole Mathis, a demolitionist specialist fighting aliens on the ground. The first-person shooter action is accompanied by strategy elements; players can command the Navy forces in the area to attack targets.

The trailer is mostly CGI with some brief snippets of gameplay at the end. The footage appears to be from the PS3/Xbox 360 versions. Activision plans to release the game on the Wii, 3DS, and DS as well but no information on those editions has been mentioned yet.

Battleship will debut in Europe in April. It's due in North America on May 15th, mere days before the film arrives.
