Thanks to a general lack of promotional screenshots and videos, many may have forgotten that Bioshock Infinite is now only a few months away from its February release date. Director Ken Levine said the game would not be shown again until it was nearing completion, so that time must be just around the corner, as the team at Irrational have unveiled a brand new, gameplay-heavy trailer called “Beast of America.”
In Bioshock Infinite, the player takes on the role of Booker DeWitt, a former Pinkerton detective who has been sent to the floating city of Columbia in order to retrieve a missing woman, Elizabeth. The Beast of America trailer begins with Booker stating that he must recover Elizabeth to pay off some sort of a debt, but then we go straight into some fantastic looking FPS action. The spiritual successor to the Bioshock series, and System Shock before that, Infinite carries on the tradition of allowing players to utilize some heavy-duty firepower while simultaneously wielding super-human abilities that let them set things on fire, electrocute enemies, summon a murder of crows, etc. Elizabeth will be by Booker's side for much of Infinite's campaign, using her mysterious psychic powers to help him along. The world itself is a massive city of floating skyscrapers filled with warring factions of humans and heavy hitters like the now iconic Songbird, so Booker's going to need all of the help he can get. Look for Bioshock Infinite to arrive on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on Feb. 26. Until then, maybe you can just watch this awesome trailer over and over again. That's my plan, anyway. Back to top
