Borderlands 2 Is Take-Two's Third Most Pre-Ordered Game Behind GTA

Gearbox Software has achieved a rather sizable feat, managing to get Borderlands 2 on some history-making charts for Take-Two Interactive, the parent company for 2K Games and Rockstar, as Borderlands 2 managed to rank as the third most pre-ordered game under the Take-Two publishing label behind Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

It seems really weird because just earlier today we had the news up about GTA IV: San Andreas launching and the big question there is if it will boost sales for GTA IV? Well, regardless of what the mod does, Gearbox is probably rolling in some happy sauce right about now because Borderlands 2 is now up there in the prestigious list of highly pre-ordered titles, as reported by Joystiq.

What's interesting is that the pre-order news comes on the heels of slightly more downtrodden news for Take-Two as the company posted a $108 million dollar loss for the quarter as compared to the previous year's earnings, as reported by GameSpot.

Nevertheless, Borderlands 2 will probably help put the company back on track followed up with next year's release of both BioShock Infinite and Grand Theft Auto V. There were a few complaints from the PC community about the lack of split-screen support, but I doubt it's going to be enough to slow the game's financial momentum down, especially given how resilient the PC community is with coming up with alternatives for day-one launch restrictions.

You can pre-order Borderlands 2 ahead of its September launch for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC or learn more about the game by paying a visit to the Official Website.
