Bungie Will Not Be Attending E3 2012 In Official Capacity

If you were hoping to grab a sneak peek at the upcoming game, Destiny, from the highly respected software developer, Bungie, think again. The studio has confirmed that they will not be attending E3 2012 in any official capacity nor will they be showing off the highly anticipated shooter.

The news comes courtesy of Bungie's official website [via GameInformer], where the team answers some questions from their mailbag and respond with the following in regards to attending E3 this year...
Nope. We never started one, and we’re not going to be at E3 in any official capacity this year. Some of us will be there, lurking from booth to booth, but don’t expect any announcements.

Oh well.

Is it me or is E3 2012 getting less exciting by the day?

Anyways, you can expect to hear more about their endeavors either sometime later this year or early next year. According to a leaked contract document, Bungie will need to have their game finished for release next fall for the Xbox 360 and Microsoft's new console, tentatively entitled the Xbox 720.

It's good and bad news because Bungie will have to release a new game in the Destiny series every other year starting 2013, and each game will be required to have a series of DLC expansion packs as well. It's exciting news that's also slightly troubling given that in addition to the bi-annual release requirements, Bungie is obligated to shift at least 5 million units of the new game within six months. Yikes.

I guess it's better they not attend this year's E3 and just focus on polishing up the game instead. The last thing we need is another RAGE on our hands.
