Activision is bringing one of their biggest franchises to the PlayStation Vita. Sony senior vice president of PlayStation brand marketing Guy Longworth confirmed in a new interview that Call of Duty will be hitting the handheld this year.

Longworth didn't reveal any details about the game itself during his chat with GameTrailers TV. However, he did mention it would be coming this autumn. Presumably they'll release it alongside the new PC/console COD games.

Activision has yet to announce what this year's Call of Duty will be. However, various clues have emerged that a COD: Black Ops sequel is in the works. COD announcements generally come in the spring time so we've got a couple months to wait.

The Vita will launch in North America and Europe on February 22nd. Shooter fans will be able to occupy themselves with Uncharted: Golden Abyss, a launch title for the handheld. Two weeks afterward, SOCOM developer Zipper Interactive will release third-person shooter Unit 13
