Sega and Disney Interactive tossed out a brand new teaser trailer for the upcoming remake of Castle of Illusion. Since the original teaser, Sega has also let loose some additional information on the project, which is set for release on the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and it has been confirmed that it will also be arriving for PC. Gabenites, rejoice.
The original teaser trailer focused mostly on a few black and white clips that did not include the game's main protagonist, Mickey. We had a quick slow-mo view of the apples that the Mouse had to collect throughout his adventures and the toy soldiers that proved to be some big adversaries during the later stages, but the rodent in the red shorts was no where to be seen. It's nice that we finally get a glimpse of the hero in the new, slightly longer, teaser trailer.
Chris Olson, vice president of Digital Business at SEGA of America commented about the game in the press release, noting...
“The original Castle of Illusion was tremendously entertaining and has a well-deserved reputation as a SEGA classic. Castle of Illusion Featuring Mickey Mouse brings this great game to a new generation,” “Mickey is back and he looks fantastic.”
It was also a very hard game, but it was fun nonetheless. Personally, I really, really, really enjoyed World of Illusion, especially since you could play the game with Mickey or Donald and get a completely different play experience each time you played. That's not to mention that the same-screen co-op play altered the gameplay even more, giving both players new challenges to overcome. But enough about that...I'm sure Sega and Disney will be wise to remake World of Illusion if they can find a modicum of success with Castle of Illusion when it launches this summer.
We'll keep you posted on any further news regarding this remake of a beloved game from Sega's era where they hit their pinnacle of success with the Genesis. Need more info? Feel free to hit up Sega's official website.
