Child's Play, the gaming charity, has had another strong year. As of December 22nd, they passed last year's total for earnings.
"Thanks to the amazing generosity of our supporters we’re sitting at $1,853,894.59 in donations for our partner hospitals," reads a news post on the Child's Play website. "These toys help make the holidays a little brighter for all the kids who are having to spend their Christmases in the hospital and will continue to provide comfort and cheer all year round." Child's Play was founded in 2003 by Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins, the authors of the Penny Arcade web comic. The charity provides games, books, and toys to over 70 children's hospitals. The majority of the participating hospitals are in North America but the charity has also made donations to hospitals in Australia, New Zealand, Egypt, and the UK. To contribute, head to the Child's Play website and click on the icon of a hospital on the map. You'll then be taken to an Amazon.com Wish List for that facility. Alternately, you can donate cash to the charity itself via PayPal, text message, or mail. |
