Every now and then, a game arrives on Facebook that makes the more traditional gamers put down their controller and pay attention. Chrono Blade looks to be one such title, offering an RPG-infused dungeon crawler full of action and adventure on the most unlikely of platforms.
An official launch date has not been announced yet, but the developers at nWay have promised that Chrono Blade will be 100 percent free to play, in your web browser, with no download required. Mobile and web versions are planned for the future and, when it comes to microtransactions, all will be focused on temporary boosts and cosmetics. The core game itself is yours to enjoy for exactly $0.
Most of what I just said isn't all that unique for a Facebook game. What truly sets Chrono Blade apart from the pack is how damn good the game looks. And, again, I'm talking about how good it looks as a game, not as a “Facebook game.” Check out the guitar and attitude-heavy trailer below.
How sweet was that?! It looks like we have a couple of classes to choose from, a boatload of gear to equip, lots of abilities and combos and, according to nWay, lots of ways to earn experience points and fill out your character's various skill trees.
The enemies in Chrono Blade are a race of aliens who have the ability to bend time and space. Each level will be unique and provide their own assortment of baddies to demolish.
Look for Chrono Blade to go into an early beta on Facebook sometime in the coming months. You can sign up to take part in the early awesomeness by visiting the official site.
