The point and click adventure from Reverb Publishing and Phoenix Online Studios is now available for digital purchase. Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller: Episode 1 has officially launched at several digital distributors while still looking for upvotes on Steam's Greenlight service.
The game is a throwback to the Nancy Drew style games where players are tasked with solving a murder with disconcerting circumstances. The game's hook is that Reed has post-cognition abilities, almost similar to the TV show Medium. You can check out the game in the trailer below.
It looks all right. It reminds me of something from Pendulo Studios, the makers of stuff like The Next Big Thing and Runaway.
The idea that you can alter the game's story and outcome by making different decisions is a promising feature. For games like this it's also a great idea to have branching storylines to help give players a reason to go back and play the game again, possibly to find something new or discover a different route to a scenario, very similar to TellTale's The Walking Dead.
You can pick up the first episode of the Erica Reed thriller for $9.99 or you can pick up the season pass to acquire all subsequent episodes for $29.99.
You can give the game an upvote (if point-and-click adventure-thrillers are your sort of thing) by visiting the Official Greenlight Page. For more info feel free to visit the Official Website.
