Multiplayer shooter Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is now in beta testing on the PC. Even if you haven't been invited yet, this is a good thing because it means gameplay footage is being leaked out onto YouTube.

Global Offensive is a remake of the popular Half-Life mod Counter-Strike. Teams of terrorists and counter-terrorists face off in objective-based matches. The money they earn from wins and kills can be used to purchase new equipment. Global will introduce new maps, modes and weapons.

Valve previously stated that they're going to grow the closed beta slowly. They want to be sure that the game is stable before they invite additional players. They'll continue to add more and more testers until the final release, expected in 2012.

CS:GO is being developed for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and Mac. The PC, Mac, and PS3 versions will support cross-platform multiplayer.
