Crackdown 2 Demo Confirmed

Generally open-world games don't have demos. Crackdown bucked the trend and it seems its sequel will as well.

"You can definitely expect a demo to hit Live before the game is out but I can't say when that will be... yet," producer James Cope told IGN. "The Crackdown demo was fantastic and we want to carry on in that form."

The Crackdown demo let you explore one chunk of the game world and had accelerated skill advancement so you could get a feel for the high-level player abilities. Advancing too far with any one attribute would trigger a countdown that ended the demo. Seemed to work pretty well.

It's no surprise that they wouldn't disclose a release date for the demo. Demos are typically release within a couple weeks of the full game so announcing the date for former all but gives away the date of the latter. All we know is that the game is slated for this year.
