Mobile tower defense game Cubemen has received a free update including multiplayer and additional levels and, to celebrate, developer 3 Sprockets have discounted the game to just $1.99 through June 28.
Cubemen is available through the App Store, Mac Store and a variety of PC digital download services. With this latest update, players can now take on the newly added Multiplayer Mayhem Mode, as well as dive into an additional 14 levels of tower defense gameplay. As an added bonus, you can also now customize your units, giving your Cubemen army a look all their own.
According to 3 Sprockets Director Seon Rozenblum, these latest additions come as a result of player feedback.
“Our mantra for Cubemen has always been to offer a refreshing spin on the tower defense genre whilst working closely with the community to create the content that they want,” Rozenblum said.
The new customization features allow players to choose from a dozen color options, as well as eight costume options. That should help everyone more easily identify their own soldiers while taking the gameplay online.
The new multiplayer mode is the real icing on the cake for this update, allowing players to fly solo or team up to compete in matches for 2-6 players. As a note, that number drops to a max of four players on the iPad. There’s even a lobby system, complete with chat, to keep players busy while waiting for their matches to begin.
In Cubemen, players protect their base from invading armies while simultaneously pressing the offensive. You’ll be able to deploy soldiers, medics a heavy hitters to take out your opponents, all while managing resources and determining when and where your various units will serve you best.
