EA and Anchor Bay Entertainment revealed today that an animated film set in the Dead Space universe will be released next month. Dead Space: Aftermath is set to hit stores on January 25th, the same day as Dead Space 2.

Aftermath tells the story of the USG O'Bannon and its crew. The O'Bannon was a ship sent to rescue the USG Ishimura, the setting of the first DS game. Considering the Ishimura is filled with deadly Necromorphs, I'd imagine the rescue mission went tits up pretty quickly.

The movie will be available on both DVD and Blu-ray. The DVD will cost $26.99 and the Blu-ray $34.99.
