Derrick The Deathfin Chomps Down On PSN Oct. 9Author: Ryan Winslett

Underwater levels are notoriously bad in video games. So it takes a lot of chutzpah to make a game that takes place exclusively in the deep blue sea. And if you’re going to do it, why not do it with papercraft? At least that’s the idea behind upcoming PSN exclusive, Derrick the Deathfin.
Being developed by Different Tuna, Derrick the Deathfin is pretty much swimming up on us out of nowhere. It looks like a charming little title, but this is the first time I’m even hearing about it. That’s shocking because it’s already being released on Oct. 9. Hooray pleasant surprises! So how does one go about making a video game entirely out of papercraft art? Check out this behind-the-scenes video with the developers and find out. On offer are 32 levels set across four continents. I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that those stats should also include something like “4,362 production papercuts.” Seriously, though, the game looks like a lot of fun and, at $7.99, you’re not exactly being asked to break the bank to give this crafty project a look-see. Look for Derrick the Deathfin to hit PSN on Oct. 9 and do your best to play the entire game without quietly chanting the Jaws them under your breath. Back to top
