Diggs Nightcrawler Properly Introduced In New Dev Diary
Humpty Dumpty has been bumped off the wall and his best friend, private investigator and bookwork, Diggs Nightcrawler, has been accused of the crime. Headed to the PlayStation Wonderbook this holiday season, the folks at Moonbot have put together a new developer diary “digging deeper” into Diggs: Nightcrawler.
Announced in April, Diggs: Nightcrawler follows a Dick Tracey-esque worm on his quest to find out who bumped off his compadre. In order to do that, Diggs is going to need to visit fairytales located throughout the library, solving additional mysteries along the way.
This will all be done, of course, with the help of the player and the augmented reality peripheral, Wonderbook. A self-aware experience, Diggs and other characters will actually “see” and speak to the player, frequently asking for some help. But, according to a post from SCEE Senior Producer Nathan Baseley on the PlayStation Blog, that partnership is going to need to grow over time.
“[Diggs has] always worked alone, and that's done him just fine until now,” Baseley said. “As the new sleuth on the case, players will need to earn Digg's trust through the course of the adventure, as as circumstances conspire against him, he'll rely more and more on their help. Working in tandem, Diggs and the player will collaborate to solve the mystery of who bumped Humpty from his wall and strive to restore harmony to Library City.”
Baseley goes on to say that more Diggs: Nightcrawler updates are on the way but, given the fact that it's not due out to Wonderbook/PlayStation 3 until this holiday season, I'd say they have plenty of time to make good on the promise.
