Dishonored is far from the first game to let the player kill people. However, it's one of the few games that ask you to be creative while doing it. A new gameplay trailer shows the elaborate deaths you can plan for your enemies.
Players can string together several spells or items to create truly grisly deaths. In the first example, the player summons a swarm of ravenous rats and then puts a razor trap on one of them. Then he possesses the rat and runs into the middle of a group of enemies. The razor trap is sprung and slices the enemies apart with a burst of deadly blades. One more example: the player is confronted by an armed guard. The guard takes out his pistol and fires. The player slows time, possesses the guard, and then puts the guard into the path of his own bullet. What's really great about this video is that these deaths aren't just canned animations. It's not some Quick Time event. The player is free to plan these elaborate deaths whenever they want. I suspect we'll see a lot of YouTube videos of player's favorite executions. This feature is just one more reason to get excited about Dishonored. We were pretty much sold on the game to begin with, though. If you might recall, we deemed it the best game at E3. Back to top
