Double Dragon Neon, Scott Pilgrim Headline Sept. PlayStation Plus

Tomorrow’s PlayStation Plus update should be titled “Retros Revenge.” Featuring Double Dragon Neon, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and the HD remake of Jet Set Radio, September’s Plus offerings are a nice mix of something old and something new.

Two games are joining Plus’ Instant Game Collection when tomorrow’s update goes live, including the brand-spanking-new Double Dragon Neon. Coming from developer Wayforward, DDN picks up where the old school original left off, leaving brothers Billy and Jimmy to save their kidnapped girlfriend from the evil Skullmageddon. Expect lots of kicking and punching to be a major aspect of this beat-em-up reboot. And even though the game launches tomorrow, it’ll be completely free as part of the Plus subscription.

Also coming free to Pluss tomorrow is a game that owes a lot to the original Double Dragon, the 8-bit wonderful Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Scott and his friends need to defeat Ramona’s seven evil exes and, just like in DD, all of the game’s problems can best be answered with a flurry of kicks and punches.

Finally, Dreamcast classic Jet Set Radio is coming to PlayStation Plus a week early alongside a 10 percent discount on the sticker price ($8.99). Featuring the game’s original soundtrack, HD graphics, Trophy support and the ability to actually control the camera, this looks to be one of the rare remakes that actually improves on the original’s formula.
